Reservation is applicable as per Government of Assam norms for OBC/MOBC, SC, ST(P), ST(H), Women, Ex-Tea Garden Tribes, Home Guards, SPOs, FMMOs, Sports Quota, and NCC Certificate holders.
Essential Eligibility Criteria for Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2025-26
1. Nationality & Domicile
- Applicant must be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Assam.
- Must be registered in an Employment Exchange in Assam.
- Must speak Assamese or any other State language fluently.
2. Age Limit
18 to 25 years as on 01-01-2026
(Born between 01-01-2001 and 01-01-2008)
Relaxation:
SC/ST (P)/ST (H): 5 years
OBC/MOBC: 3 years
Home Guards/VDP/CDV (3+ years service): Additional 3 years
FMMOs/SPOs: Additional 10 years
3. Educational Qualification
- Constable (UB): HS/Class XII passed
- Constable (AB): HSLC/Class X passed
- Candidates with Class XII and above may apply for both AB & UB.
4. Physical Standards
Height (Male/Female):
Gen/OBC/MOBC/SC: 162.5 cm / 154 cm
ST(P)/ST(H): 160 cm / 152 cm
Chest (Male only):
Gen/OBC/MOBC/SC/ST(P): 80–85 cm
ST(H): 78–83 cm
Medical standards apply as per rules (good mental/physical health, no deformities, normal vision, etc.)
Key Responsibilities
Selected candidates will serve as frontline law enforcement personnel responsible for:
- Assisting in maintaining law and order and public safety.
- Conducting patrolling, crime prevention duties, and emergency response.
- Supporting senior officers in investigations, documentation, and operational tasks.
- Participating in community outreach and maintaining positive police-public relations.
Salary and Allowances for Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2025
Pay Scale: Rs. 14,000–70,000/-
Grade Pay: Rs. 5600/-

Selection Process for Assam Police Constable Recruitment 2025-26
The recruitment will be conducted in the following phases:
1. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Medical Examination
- Race, Long Jump (Male & Female)
- Chin-Ups (for AB Male only)
- Medical standards verification
2. Physical Standard Test (PST)
- Height and Chest measurement
- No marks awarded
3. Written Test
OMR-based exam of 100 questions (50 marks)
Subjects: Arithmetic, English, Reasoning, Assam History/Geography/Polity, GK/CA
No negative marking
4. Oral/Viva-Voce
5 marks
5. Academic Weightage (UB only)
Maximum 5 marks based on Higher Secondary percentage
Final Merit List
Prepared based on total marks obtained in PET, Written Test, Viva, and Academic Score (where applicable).
